Women’s History Month is the time of the year when we can celebrate empowering and inspiring women from all over the world. From suffragettes in the 20th century to women leaders of this decade, it is important to acknowledge the vital role of women in history and in the present. For decades, women had been erased from the stories that shaped the world we live in today. This is why every year in March serves as a reminder that women’s voices are louder than ever and they have paved the way for the life we have now.
Royal Essencestarted out in 2016 with a mission to help women create lasting memories and experiences through little surprises in their everyday lives. For four years, we have given amazing women from all walks of life the indulgence and care they deserve. This month, we will be celebrating Women’s History Month along with other inspiring women through our lasting products that aim to encourage women to make time and treat themselves. We also encourage you to celebrate this month in your own ways and use this opportunity to reflect on what it means to be a woman in this day and age.

If you have been thinking about spending some time to pay it forward and help other girls out, this is the time to start! There are many organizations around the world dedicated to aiding marginalized women. Choose a cause close to your heart. Whether it’s empowering trans women or helping the underprivileged start micro-businesses, what you choose to spend your time on will make a big difference to the world.
There are many ways to volunteer. You can spend your weekends in your local organization or donate a portion of your earnings every month. You can even do it remotely through digital campaigns and help out using whatever skills you can offer! It will be a life-changing experience that will give you a whole new purpose, perspective, and even meaningful friendships along the way.

If you enjoy reading in your spare time, dedicate this whole month’s reading list to empowering books written by inspiring authors. This is perhaps the most effective way to remember trailblazers and change-makers this month as you can read exactly what they have to say. Books don’t only give you information, they will also help you empathize and understand different plights in the context of the author.
We recommend autobiographies by inspiring women such as Maya Angelou, Malala Yousafzai, and Oprah or some impactful novels by Margaret Atwood, Marjane Satrapi, and Sally Rooney.
Listen to a Power Playlist
Need a pick-me-up? Music can do just that! Boost your energy and feel empowered through music by women changing the music industry. Last year, we discovered girls like Billie Eilish and Lizzo who are shifting the narrative through their lyrics and taking over the charts. So whether you want to power through your day with self-confidence and motivation or tune into your emotions, fill your playlist with music that will make you feel like a strong, independent woman.

Support brands that empower and inspire you even after this month going forward! It’s important for these brands to know that there are women who have their backs and support their movement. From big multinational corporations to micro-businesses, we can all agree that there needs to be more space for women in a male-dominated industry.
Surround Yourself with Amazing Women
Turn Women’s International Day into Galentine’s Day and spend it with women you look up to and inspire you every day. It can be something as simple as having dinner with your mom or a conversation with your boss. You can even make a girl squad and spend the whole month empowering each other. Meet new people who can uplift and support you through different organizations, book clubs, and even social media. Being surrounded by women you admire will definitely have a domino effect on your mood and mindset.
How does that Madonna song go again? This month is all about zooming into women who are changing the world, so don’t forget yourself! You may not be the scientist behind the black hole image or have a Nobel Peace Prize, but your existence matters. Becoming the best version of yourself has a crucial impact in whatever field you’re in and whoever you encounter every day.
We’re becoming more and more accepting of different identities and expressing yourself authentically will help push this movement forward and inspire other women to be their best versions as well. Whether it’s tweaking your looks or heading in a more authentic direction, expressing yourself is not only empowering but also a big sigh of relief from holding yourself back.
Treat Yo Self!
This blog series is all about rewarding yourself, as this is what we stand up for at Royal Essence. So of course, we’re adding it to this list! Being seen and acknowledged is sadly a battle many women face every day. You’ve fought long and hard to get to where you are now and it’s important to celebrate progress--no matter how small!
Treating yourself doesn’t have to be that complicated. It’s all about finding time for yourself and doing something you know you deserve! No need for a big celebration party if that’s not your thing. Sometimes, a nice warm bath with your favourite scents is enough. It could also be taking an extra step to improve yourself, whether it's through taking up classes or creating a skincareroutine.
And while you’re at it, don’t forget to treat yourself with life’s little surprises! We have created our products with the intent of providing amazing scents to accompany you during your me-time while giving you a little reward through our jewellery surprises in every product. We believe that this is how meaningful experiences are created--through the little surprises and indulgences in life.
